        Thanks guys.

Perhaps John H. or someone can tell us what assembly plant was designated "R" and we can figure out this engine's vehicle origin.

R was Arlington TX, don't know what they made back then.

I believe Arlington was a "B" body plant in the 70's, full size Chevrolet.

Arlington made B-bodies until 1996 -- the last of the real B-bodies. They made them even longer than Janesville.

So if it came through Arlington, it would be from a 75, 76 or 78 Impala?

                Wouldn't 12R528915 be from a 1972 model?

I'm smarter than before, but still confused!!!!!

Well you forced me to look it up.
In 1972 R = Arlington and they assembled -- GUESS WHAT? Chevelles, which were A-body.

No, I am not going to look for when they started assembling B-bodies.

                    You guys are the greatest!!

Looks like this motor came from a 72 Chevelle made in Arlington, Texas about January 1972.

                    350 L-65 with 165 HP 2 bbl, Turbo Hydromatic

(Currently has a high rise intake with a 4 barrel so who knows whats inside!!)

                    Again, many thanks!!!
