    E69 Convert corner header moldings

Is there a difference between these corner moldings for a convertible vs. a coupe? The AIM shows the coupe moldings and part numbers, 3966601/2. If there is a difference what are the part numbers for the convertible? Mine are pitted and scratched and I was thinking of replacing them. Maybe I should just remove them and have them re-chromed?

Also I am looking into replacing the convertible top myself. I have read other posts about the Al Knoch video. Does anyone have the video that I can take a look at. I also need to replace all the vert top seals.

    Thanks,
    Joe

    Hi Joe,
I believe the same corner trim is used for convertibles and coupes. The part # is the same on the AIM pages for the 2 models.
I had the trim pieces re-plated for my 71. I lost the texture that is in the small recess near where the guide pin bushing inserts.
There are now reproduction corner trim pieces available. I don't know what the quality and accuracy is. (Paragon)

I have a convertable and had them re-chromed. they turned out great. with regard to the top, it is a very time consuming job. It is also helpful to have someone help you. It took us several nights to complete the job.

Thanks for the replies. I was confused about the AIM, because it shows the moldings on a page with pictures from a T-Top and does not mention the convertible. Also, I have been watching some NOS pieces on Ebay and they indicate they are for coupe only, not the convertible.

As far as replacing the top I think I will post for help with that when the time gets closer, as I am in no hurry.
