    Body Mount Bolts

I am getting ready to lift the body off of my 66 roadster and the bolts on each kickup behind the doors are spinning and will have to be cut. Any help on the best way to cut or split them will be appreaciated.

Just went thru the same thing. I used a saws all with a metal blade to cut the head of the bolt off. But to get a good angle...I had to cut out the old rubber cushion first. Then the top metal holding the cage nut can be pryed up with a long screwdriver. Then you can remove the nut and and bolt together.

    Good luck.

      Bill,...
Another method is to remove the cage around the square nut,... more than likely the rivets holding it have already separated, and then use a 1" crows foot (craftsmen 43629). The crows foot fits into the depression. Repair and reattachment of the cage will be required.

Todd/Bill,... I also misread the note,...
To keep the nuts from slipping that are on the frame I insert (jam in) small pieces if steel along each side of the nut,..... or....there is room to get a sawsall into the opening and under the head of the bolt

Common problem. I used a small angle grinder with a cut-off wheel. Have fun!

Just had the same problem on my "66" and used a dremel tool. Cut several deep grooves in the head of the bolt.....one good wack with a hammer and chisel and you're done!
