    Hell-s6

I read some where that there is a casting number inside the engine behind the cam shaft where its hard to machine. Incase someone decked the block you can check inside the engine. Any body aware of that? I have a 71
LS6 and the guy I bought it from decked it about 25 years ago and its supose to be an original but the block was re-stamped . Any other ways of I.D.?

The correct casting number ends with 512, but is not unique to LS6 cars.

A quote from an enginerebuilder service: How can you tell if the casting numbers on a block have been altered? The easiest way is to look inside for the reference number. The number is located inside the block behind the cam journal in an area that is too confined to allow use of present technology.

Is anyone aware or this? Its the first time In heard of it.
