Sorry to hear of all these problems but IT ISN'T NEWS. This guy has been screwing people for years and for the life of me, I don't understand why people keep dealing with him. His reputation is known country wide.

Peter, I don't know about that new one on EBAY. But my dealings were with Al Frickie on Archer Rd, Justice, Il. So you do the math. I would not be surprised if he was attempting to dodge his less than sterling past.
NCRS members be cautious with this one.

a couple years ago, i bid and won on Ebay a dozen sets of AC Delco points for c-1 distributors. the ad stated they were NOS Delco points. when they arrived, they were Generics. i emailed the individual and stated if he didn't send delco points, i'd plaster the info on this TDB. i got the delco's a week later and returned the generics. first and last dealing with al. BTW, i believe he also runs a repo wiring harness buisness and a vette parts outfit out of chicago, the names of which i'll not mention. .He has been dealing in new, used and repo vette parts since before NCRS was founded. mike

Wiring harness business is separate -- it is run by Al's former partner in Chicago Corvette Supply. They parted company some years ago.

I had a terrible experience with Al from Chicago Corvette Supply too. It took 6 months to get rebuilt carbs, that is after he promised me 3 weeks when I ordered and paid for them. He never once returned my phone calls over the 6 month period. When I would call him he had one story after another as to why they werent in yet. He even went as far as to give me a "fake" tracking number to try to keep me off his back for a while. When I called UPS, they said they never called for a pick up. Al is the owner too, youd think he would take a little more pride in his business. I will be talking to him at Carlisle if he shows up. Im thinking of having t-shirts made up that says "Chicago Corvette Supply Ripped Me Off" to pass out at Carlisle. So if you see someone going out in handcuffs it's probably me.

As I recall, there's not much Justice in Justice. Used to hate coming in on 79th street.

                    There's that carb thing again.

My experience some years ago with Chicago wasn't bad but here's for everyone's information. About six years ago I bought a restored date correct carb from Chicago Corvette. When the carb arrived it was obviously drop shipped as the return address and paperwork were from Custom Rebuilt Carburetors in Middlesex, NJ. They had rebuilt and refinished it like new and it cranked up and ran like a charm the first time...and I just put it on about six weeks ago after sitting on a shelf all this time.

Just to be sure they were still there before I posted I called the number I had and sure enough they are still there. They said Chicago uses several vendors and they still do work for them and didn't have any real problems themselves but when I asked if it wasn't better for someone needing a carb to just go directly to the source they said "absolutely" as they get the information they need first hand from the customer so "spread the word". They are a family run business and have been in business since 1979. They have a good stock of carbs and rebuild/restore carbs sent in. They specialize in muscle and show cars.

So, here's the carb I got from them for my 70 LT-1 and here's their website. http://customrebuiltcarbs.com/

If you're needing a carb give them a call and judge for yourself. Hope it helps anyone wanting to cut out the unnecessary "middle man".

Spoke to All fierke 08/03/2009 9:15 AM . He has informed he he has sold the part and does not have the money to issue A refund. So far after contacting every place that he advertises and I mean everyplace and the Illinois Attorney General. Hemmings is the only one who has contacted him. He informed me that since the check was written to him personaly I had no claim with Chicago Corvette. I wonder how many times he has been through this .He also new Hemmings would only write him A letter .

I'm no lawyer but am just curious, wouldn't the reciept for the part be who actually sold the item and not the check? Just curious about another point, did he ask that the check be written to him and not Chicago Corvette? If so, would the IRS be interested in that?

Yes he wanted the check made out to him.I am sure he knew if the check was made out to him the Atorney General will not do anything to A individual.Check was mailed to his business address and part was shiped from there . IRS would probably love it .Boy am I getting A lesson here .
