    69 rocker panel trim

I just finished reading a couple threads on the rocker panel trim piece, that is the anodized aluminum piece. From what previous threads indicate, the aluminum piece was bare on top and black on the lower portion. The ones I took off my 69 had the very top of the trim piece painted black, the middle portion was aluminum, and the lower portion also black. Since I'm pretty sure that nothing on this car is original any more, I'm wondering if this could be correct or if someone painted the very top portion black? jim

Sounds like someone put the 70 and later rockers on your car.

Are your rockers two piece with the main lower body being fiberglass and the upper trim strip aluminum or are they one piece and all aluminum?

From what I have found the 69 is two piece; one big plastic piece in semi black and the small thin aluminum with a black line in the middle, I got lucky and got a set. My originals left some where between point A and B when someone put on sidepipes.

greg, what I have is the two piece, aluminum trim and the fiberglass lower part painted semi flat black. from what I read it sounds like, on the anodized aluminum trim piece, only the lower part of that piece is painted black where mine has both the lower part black and the very top edge. with bare aluminum in between.

You may be right on the thin piece; I can shoot a pic at lunch if that would help.

I do think the lower part is more of a plastic ish kind of thing, maybe.

              Jim

I am so sorry; I forgot! The wife started in on me the second I walked in the door and never let up; I was lucky to get back to work with my smile on my face.

I do have the plastic ish parts up here at work in our body shop if you need anything from that; otherwise, it will be a matter of me not getting sidetracked when I get home tonight.

The original 69 rocker was in fact black fiberglass much like if not the same as the body panels.

Sorry that I misunderstood your first post. I just check my trim pieces and they are painted as yours are, black on the horizontal flat surface, aluminum on the middle beveled surface and black on the lower vertical surface.

One is original and one was a service replacement that I bought in 88 so I assume that they are correct.
