I'm interested to know if NCRS has an archive of of cars that have been judged before. Is there a database that can queried by VIN?

Re: Has a Car Been Judged Before?
in a nutshell - NO! there is no database that any one member of NCRS can go to and look a VIN for a car up and determine if it has been judged or not
just recently, there was a thread about the "Authentication Service" that one can pay $300 to ask Roy Sinor, NCRS National Judging Chair, whether a car has obtained a certain judging levelRick Aleshire

Re: Has a Car Been Judged Before?
My understanding of the Authentication Service is that you provide the VIN, and $300, and NCRS provides the dates and awards received (if any) for the VIN you supply.
In other words, you don't actually get the judging sheets, nor do you get the points gained, just the name of the award (e.g. Second Flight or PV or Duntov as examples).

Re: Has a Car Been Judged Before?
Thanks guys, actually I'm not too surprised except for the price tag. As I understand Bowtie judging, you can only have that judging done once in the life of a car. From time to time I think about having that evaluation someday. I can't seem to track down the other 2 owners to ask if they had my car judged before. With that, I need to have that record search done before I proceed?
Also, I've read about a member in NCRS that can do the detective work to help me find my previous owners. Does anyone know the name / contact information of that member? (Maybe less than the $300 for judging records?) Thanks!

Re: Has a Car Been Judged Before?
NCRS has NEVER collected Judging Score Sheets for archival... They are always returned to the owner. The only thing that's sent to National for retention is the 'green sheet' (NCRS Judging Summary Sheet). And, for quite some time in the earlier years, it was NOT a requirement for individual chapters to file that paperwork from Chapter Judging Meets.
One reason for not archiving the score sheets, is club policy has been to encourage owners to improve on their restoration. Each judging session begins with a set of blank papers and no memory of how the car fared in prior judging meets.
Therefore, why would we want to know the blow by blow details of how this/that car obtained its bottom line Flight Score on this/that date? Essentially, judging is a service for members, by members...- Top

Re: Has a Car Been Judged Before?
If you think the car is a Bowtie candidate, it does not matter if it has been judged in Flight judging. The Bowtie process is entirely separate. Most of the team leaders would know if a particular car has been thru the bowtie process, one of the reasons a car needs an approval from a team leader at a regional prior to entering Bowtie judging.Bill Clupper #618- Top
