    '61-'62 Tail Lamp Protector Cones

These things keep falling off. I re-arrange the wires, and carefully put them on, only to find them rolling around in ther trunk the next time I open it. I've tried a glob of dum-dum on the mounting stud. I think I've got originals, and the mounting holes on some of the 4 may be split and enlarged.

Any good ideas to keep them on?

    Chris....
The cone mounting hole must be tight, unless the cone will just fall off. New cones is one option or applying a little adhesive in the hole that cannot be seen and bracing the cone in place until the adhesive sets may work.
By the way....61's did not have the cones.

I usually put mine on by pushing them on with a 3/8" deep socket. They snug up pretty easy that way. If yours are split or worn out just get a new set. Be very careful with the old wiring when moving it around to stuff into the cone. Nothing like breaking old wire.

The base on some of the current repos is too thick. This prevents the cone from being pushed on far enough for the stud to engage properly. Solution is to trim some of the base.

        Good luck
