No problem Kenny, but it may take a week before I can post. It's not a low mileage car - it had 51,864 when I bought the car 18 months ago and I have good reasons to believe this is actual miles - it now has 54XXX. I have a tank sticker but to be honest I have never looked at it - there is a big hole in the middle but shows L46 and some other options. I bought the car actually pretty close where Werner Meier has his shop - he did some work on the car after appraising it before shipping it over to Amsterdam. It was hit (driver front side) and received a repaint as a result in the late 80ties (this may impact the correctness of the vacuum hose routing!).

Oh bellhousing has some orange overspray but much is peeled off.

I have not done a history search yet.

That answers several questions I had. Natural bolts on the rear brackets on firewall. Natural brackets.

Interesting to see the washer hoses laying on top of the wiper motor, I would imagine them tucked in.

I was also curious if there was originally any gromett in the hole in the shielding that the cloth wire ran through to the coil. I would expect they would rub and fray, but none is there.

That car looks like a time capsule.

I'd love to see the entire engine bay and exterior as well as hear the story behind the car.

Looks like quite the benchmark example.

        That was a tease.

Yeah-That grommet area has bothered me,too, since day 1-All I can say is that I was present at the dearlership when this car was backed down off the transport(late on a weekend),and took delivery the following Mon. Other than what happened during "dealer prep", This is the way it came from the factory.I always thought maybe it had something to do with the trans.ign; although not likely.

I'm finding several little details that I have set-up differently. This is very helpful to me, thanks for posting. I'll be referancing these often.

Thanks very much for the excellent photos, this really helps me jog my memory as my car has been apart for so long I am having difficulty recalling the details. This helps get me back on track.

It would be very nice if there were photo-documented "benchmark" cars of each type published somewhere for referance. Especially if they could be accessed from this board.

It would be some work, and it may get confusing in the area of running changes within a specific year, but it would be an awesome referance.

Maybe a photo-documented Benchmark car, and a list of known changes and applications of early/late parts.

I guess I just need to attend a national meet and bring a camara.

                  John,

In the NCRS, they're Bowtie cars, not Benchmark cars.

And, when you attend a meet, it's "luck of the draw." You may find 5 69's, you many find none. Asking questions here and also trying to network with "local" Chapter members can be the next best thing.

There is a meet in Cincinnati in October, I'd love to get my car judged, but really know nothing about it. I need to research and likely apply early. I'd love to get scored, make some modifications and shoot for a second flight on my 2nd time around once I learn what the car needs to get their.

                          John,

You can always see if another one of the dozen ( ) Ohio chapters has a meet between now and then where you can OJ.

Else take pics and throw them up here. Plenty of free judges available.

Only two things to remember: 1. Ops points will kill you. Be sure you get ALL of them. 2. The biggest misconception is that a Top Flight car is a perfect car. Nope - only 94% perfect as judged by our standard. And, if you don't have options, those are "free" points that you can't lose.

Where can I get Ops info and point break down?

My radio is inop and that would be an expensive fix.

Ops is 25 points per line, but some lines have more than one item on them. The judging sheets are available on-line from one of the buttons on the top of the page. It has been a while since I looked for them, so, like you, I would have to search around a little.

And Patick is spot on with his advice.
And don't forget the NCRS decal, battery cutoff, and fire extinguisher for 10 additional points.
