Rear Compartment Light

I put a new bulb in my rear compartment light on my 1970 Roadster. It still does not light are there any tips on trouble shooting this problem?

It's pretty simple to troubleshoot. There's one wire to the lamp socket assy that carries power (always hot) and a second wire that connects to ground.

The push botton in the top of the switch/socket that the door contacts, makes and breaks the circuit to the lamp. So, remove the lamp, pop the socket/switch out of the rear compartment trim bezel and probe the connecting wires to see whether you're missing power or ground...

If both are good, either the socket/switch assy or the lamp that's installed in it is defective.

PS, before pulling the socket/switch to investigate, open the RH storage compartment door (passenger side), remove the upper storage tray that sits above the jack and take a look see at the connecting wires that run to the socket/switch. They may have become disconnected by a prior owner's efforts to remove/install the jack...
