Judging Question about 1102268 Generator endplates

I have finally located a correct set of endplates for my 1102268 generator, and want to make sure everything is correct for judging.

Are both endplates unpainted, painted black, or is just the rear endplate painted black? What about the steel cap covering the bearings, painted or unpainted?

I believe the descriptive text given in the '61-62 JG book answers both of your questions...

The text states which generators did NOT have end plates painted black and the 2268 isn't one of these. Then, the text goes on to describe the finish of the 2173, 2268, and 2174 generator's commutator end frame bearing cover stating they were unpainted.

This makes sense because the bearing assy would have been pressed into the end frame after it was painted to avoid bearing contamination...

The 2268 endplates were both painted semi flat black. The bearing cap/cover was plated silver zinc.
