just use the standard rings as file fitting is a PIA

Ordinary moly rings should work fine - we build the Viper V-10 from the bare block up in the assembly plant, right next to the main line, and the moly rings are seated before the hot chassis comes out of the roll-test booth.

If you use hypereutectic cast pistons, you may have to file fit the rings in order to meet the slightly greater end-gap specs for these pistons.

              Joe,
To the best of my knowledge, that is ONLY AN ISSUE when using Keith Black hypers. I've built one engine with K-B hypers---------never again (SPECIFICALLY because of the file fit top ring). Every engine that I've built since with hypereutectic pistons, such as Speed Pro, I use standard moly rings right out of the box (although, I DO check the gap before installing on the pistons).
And last, the 290hp engine that John is referring to will have domed pistons, which I believe, ONLY come as a forged piston anyway.

Anybody using the cast Egge 283 domed pistons?
