    66-67 AC hood air dam

Does correct 66-67 air dam used to seal radiator to hood on AC cars have "ridges molded into top"(not talking about the major ridge which does the sealing)? One ad in Doc Rebuild talks about "correct Ridges". One I got from Volunteer parts doesn't have ridges. Info, or better yet, a photo would be helpful.

    Thanks

    Bill:

The "Doc" has an original mid-year AC car for an example. He is also is very good at knowing what rubber strip had what identification ridge or other nuance. So I would tend to trust his judgement/assessment for correctness....unless specifically told different in the NCRS Judging Reference Manual. And even then, there may have been more than one design or configuration for the part.

I have a very low mile, factory AC car, and will also check mine and report back. However, I am not the original owner, so what I have may still not be factory original.

I will let you know in a few hours.

Yes, it has ridges. Usually one set somewhere near the middle of the flap.

Checked my hood air dam, and it has a set of two thin ridges near the middle as stated by Wayne. However, they are on the bottom side of the rubber and not easily visible....but they are there.

On my 1967 c-60 coupe the ridges are on the front flap on the top. Dale

Sorry I couldn't find my pictures, but It is held on by four or six clips. I have seen both. The long side of the flap goes up and over the front of the radiator and support toward the front of the hood. The short flap is tucked down into the opening between the support and the radiator.

I agree Wayne, BTW my original air dam has 2 ribs.

They are on the bottom side of the part that hangs over the radiator/condensor.
