Neat picture of an original 67

This picture was taken just minutes after the car came off the delivery truck late June 1967. The owner came to see when his new car was going to arrive and had his camera with him. Its a Sunfire Yellow, Black Int. 350hp, 4spd,T.I, Radio, A.O.S. car. Lot of neat things to look at. It belongs to a friend of mine and what we are trying to figure out is. The number 339 is written on the drivers window with what looks like a yellow grease pencil. The dealer # ends in 339, so was this # put there by the truck driver? Any ideas? Bill

Just looking at the car again, was it radio delete? Or was the antenna shipped in the trunk?

            Alright, inside the car, whatever.

Regardless, I don't see an antenna mast in the picture, that was my point.

I would think they were shipped inside the car. You can get some major damage when you snag an antenna on a car carrier !!

                Hi Bill,
                Great Picture!!!
Probably only a few hours to get that picture so it's pretty incredible to have it.
Is the mirror pivoted 'down' for shipping or is that the way they were used in 67?
                Regards,
                Alan

Re: Neat picture of an original 67

I believe that would be correct, regarding the antenna, along with the Hub Caps, Trim Rings, etc., specially as it was just received off the truck. Sorry for the remark Chris, I just couldn't help myself.

To the original point, regarding the #339, if indeed the dealer's number was #339 there is no doubt that is what the delivery driver used to load and off load the trailer. With Corvettes, specially in that era, a number of dealers were probably on his route, i.e. one here, two there, etc. unlike passenger cars which may constitute an entire load to one dealer.

I was fortunate to be at the dealers lot when my 83 Camaro Z-28 H.O. (first delivered in Chicago area) and was surprised to see how high the car sat on it's suspension. I found out that for shipping, riser blocks were inserted I suppose to keep the front spoiler/air dam from scraping during the loading/unloading process. All the service techs stood by to watch as it was a first view for them and they wanted to get to know it's details.
It was a fun experience - good timing.

My 63 Vette came in several weeks before I could get back home to see it. In the course of that time, someone removed/exchanged shift balls and put on about 10 miles (my best estimate). It was a small upstate dealer in Wisconsin and they only saw a hand full of Vettes during the entire year.

What makes it a little more interesting not only did the dealer # end in 339, but the order number on the tank sticker is 53339! Just coincidence?
Yes the car has a radio and my friend friend did a great body off restoration to it about 2 years ago.

Bill, back in late '66 and Spring '67 I saw tow Corvettes come off the transporter at my local Chevy dealer. The first was a white, black interior, black stinger, redline, rally wheel, convertible with 435 HP, 4 speed, 3:55 posi. No numbers were on the glass as you described so I assume the numbers were not from the factory but rather from the driver. The second, a green coupe, tan vinyl, 350 HP, 4 speed, had no numbers on the glass, either. It did have the window sticker and another paper sticker Chevy No 1 Team. I have that paper sticker today, unfortunatly with sand on the two adhesive strips from dropping it on the lot.

                      Great picture and story!

Neat pic. So is that how Bloomington cars are judged? You know fresh off the line and before dealer prep.

Bill, the top one is it. I have been trying to figure out how to remove the sand from the two adhesive strips for 40+ years without disturbing the adhesive.

There appears to be a tag hanging on the inside mirror, what is it?

Also on the right side windshield there appears to be two labels adjacent to each other, what's that?

                              thank you
