    Original '63 Exhaust Panel Stamp

Just cleaning up my original '63 exhaust panel (Dec. '62 car) and came across the following part number and "MFG" stamp in the rear attachment bond strip. The stamping is on both sides.

Thought people might find this of interest.

I'd guess that MFG stands for Molded Fiber Glass, from Ashtabula, Ohio.

Guess they still made some of the fiberglass parts. If you look through some old magazines, you'll see pictures of 53 and 54 bodies made by MFG.

There's the one "famous" magazine cover picture of one guy holding the entire floorpan of a 53 over his head, to show the light weight of the fiberglass parts.

They made the majority of the parts, and this casting is on most of the parts. It is also on many of the later replacement parts that were supplied even into the 80s. Even though the company was acquired by Rockwell long before then.

I've had several NOS midyear rear quarters with the Rockwell "sticker" in 'em.
