I am trying to find out if I should paint the complete bell housing on my 1967 or not. The judging manual says that for the 327, the bell housing should be the same color as the engine. However, my bell housing appears to have almost no orange on it, maybe just a small amount of over spray. Which is correct? Also, I find no mention of the two stripes on the drive shaft in the manual but do find it elsewhere. Can anyone tell me what shade of green should be used or is this not a judged item? I have read alot of articles on the discussion board but could not find the answer to these. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Re: To paint or not to paint?
I helped judge 63-4 chassis at the recent Wisconsin regional, and the thinking there was to have only partial coverage of paint on the bell housing. I can't remember if the team actually took a point for that or not.
I have mine fully painted, and I'm sure some judge will mention it or take a point for it.
If I were you, I'd cover the front half of the bellhousing with orange paint.Chris Enstrom
