    1969 Exhaust Tip Exit Length?

How far should the tips stick out, are they straight out or do they have an angle, or is there a GM installation sheet?

I have never found a GM spec for the "protrusion" of the exhaust tips for 68-69. I don't even know if it was precisely accomplished on the assembly line. However, I believe the intention was that the inner end of the exhaust extension (i.e. "tip") was to be coincident with the inner end of the "straight section" of the muffler's outlet pipe. Consequently, I think the correct dimension is about 3-1/4-3-1/2" measured from the top of the bezel to the top end of the extension.

The extensions were NOT angled, either vertically or laterally.

I always thought that the top of the tip should be at the trailing edge of the bumper.

That is an interesting question, Steve. I went out to measure my '68's and found that my exhaust tips are about 4" out from the top of the exhaust bezel to the longer tapered side of the exhaust end. I would think they should not stick out beyond the bumper for sure. At 4", they are about an inch or so inside the bumper. It looks good to me but 4" might be the maximun that I would have it extend.
