How do you Identify a 60 clutch fork?

I'll probably be doing a swap meet run in a couple weeks and will be looking for a bellhousing and clutch fork for my 60 and was wondering how to tell if the clutch fork is for a 60, other than the seller saying that it is.....

I guess the best thing is to ask him what it's for rather than tell him what I want it for but if someone could post a pic and point out a feature or two specific to this type of fork then I would be able to tell for myself.

Oh and what all years will work for this fork? I'm guessing 55-62?

56-62 used the same pedal, here is a picture. The pedal to the right is a NOS pedal, the one on the left is the reproduction.

      Thanks Ernie,
That helps. So what is the easiest way to tell the 56-62 fork from the 63-82 fork? I tried looking on ebay for pics to compare but I can't really see any differences.
Could someone post some side by side pics of the two types for comparison?

This is the only picture I have of the fork in my 56.

          Greg-----

The easiest way to differentiate the 57-62 fork from the 66-81 fork is the width and "taper" of the beam section. You can easily see this difference if you compare the 66-81 fork pictured below to the one that Ernie posted. The 64-65 fork is essentially the same configuration as 66-81 except that the steel the fork is fabricated from is a little thicker for 64-65. The 1963 fork is unique since it uses a ball socket articulation with the fork pushrod rather than the clevis pin articulation used for all 57-62 and 64-81 forks.

By the way, while the information here will enable you to differentiate the 57-62 fork from the 64-81 configuration, it WILL NOT help you differentiate the 57-62 fork from the myriad of similar forks used for passenger cars.

Thanks Joe. I did a quick search on ebay for clutch fork pics and near as I can tell only the corvettes use the clevis/pin attachment for the pushrod. The camaros, chevelles, etc all seem to use the ball and socket arrangment like the 63.

So with your pic and those from Ernie and Tom I should be able to ID the proper fork if I come across one.

Yes, you won't have any trouble differentiating the C1 fork from Chevelles, Camaros and later passenger cars for exactly the reason you mention. However, 1957-60 passenger car forks used the pin articulation just like Corvettes but the forks are otherwise not the same. They look very similar to Corvette forks, though. It's differentiating between these forks that I was earlier referring to as being difficult.

Oh. I didn't even think of that so maybe I'd just be better off getting a repop fork. Thanks for clearing that up.
