Re: Side Pipe Cover Paint
Ralph:
For any metallic scratches, try a Sharpie Metallic Silver marker. I just suggested this to someone touching up his glovebox door and he was very happy with the results. Since the marker is a bit wide, I would recommend that you immediately wipe over the scratch with a paper towel or clean rag as soon as you swipe it with the marker (or you could tape around each scratch if feasible). This will keep the color in the scratch, but not on the metal next to it. I use the silver pen on rims with road rash and other brushed metal touch-ups. I don't go overboard because although the repairs look very good, you can sometimes see a difference in the finish in certain lighting (no different than paint). Give it a try. If you don't like how it looks, you can always try the paint touch-up or spray the area. If the Sharpie doesn't match very well, there might be other marker brands with a different shade of silver.
Good luck,

Yes, I thought you were talking about the silver portion of the sidepipes. The part that you are talking about is black on my covers. I also use a black permanent Sharpie on those areas, as well as on my gauge cluster and glove box door. Just use it sparingly as it will look very good, but in the right light, you might see a difference in the finish. Of course, you can use paint if you prefer, but the Sharpie might be worth a try if it's only small scratches.

Re: Side Pipe Cover Paint
Ralph,
Someone once recommended this Krylon Dull Aluminum Spray Paint | KP1403. I'm not at home but I'm pretty sure this is what I bought and it was a close enough match for touch ups.

Re: Side Pipe Cover Paint
Ralph,
I always thought the color was the same as the argent color used on the rallye wheels but never examined that. It just might be the same. I just used the Krylon because it was available and someone else had recommended it. I had a few stone chips behind the front wheels so I sprayed some paint in a jar and let it set up a little and used a small brush to touch up the chips. My covers were repos so color may be different than originals.
