    Mystery Wire Revisited

I posted a question a couple of weeks ago about a wire and terminal I wasn't able to identify in a '68 dash harness. This black wire has a flat brass terminal and I believe it was connected at the ammeter when I disassembled the instrument panel -- made a diagram but subsequently misplaced it. Per one suggestion, I've contacted a couple of vendors who sell harnesses; one couldn't help and I've not received any other replies yet. Can anyone confirm that this does, in fact, go to the ammeter?

Joel - my '69 dash is apart, I'll take a look tonight when I get home.

OK, I've got he wiring harness blueprint for a '68 in front of me, The only black single wires in the harness are the 150 circuit that is the console ground, (may be in a location adjacent to the ammeter) the 159 circuit to the ignition switch, and the 105 circuit that plugs into the two way connector on the rear of the ammeter, the 91 circuit that goes to the center of the three way connector on the ignition switch,. Unless I'm blind, your stray is one of those.

Joel - I don't have any wire with a connector like that from my harness. I was thinking that maybe the black wire came out of the connector for the ammeter but the angle of the terminal doesn't make sense.

If you took digital pics, go back over them. I literally took hundreds and it saved my butt many times.

        Good luck!

          Joel,

Will this help you? Number 13 in the pic is the cap for the ammeter.

Thanks to all for the replies. I plumb didn't think to look at the AIM sheet for the radio. Thanks to Ernie Fry for sending it. Confirms that the terminal does go into the ammeter (so maybe my ol' memory isn't as bad as I was starting to think)!!
