Re: C2 Inside Rear View Mirror
Thanks.
As you both said, it weas not a factory installed option on C2's. I was wondering though if it was listed in the GM Dealer Accessories Catalog like the locking gas cap, floor mats, etc.?George Dupont

Re: C2 Inside Rear View Mirror
They day / night mirror became an option with the 65 model year. It was RPO Z01 and it was a comfort and convenience group which included the day / night mirror as well as back up lights. The option was dropped the following year. Back up lights became standard and there is some controversy over whether or not the day / night mirror was standard for 66 as well. In any case, it would have also been available as a dealer installed option.- Top

Re: C2 Inside Rear View Mirror
This is a mirror I took out of a 63 Corvair and I believe that it was what you got as a DEALER INSTALLED non-glare mirror. But I may be wrong. Note the flipper.

Re: C2 Inside Rear View Mirror
This subject has come up before and there are prior thread(s) on it. There were a number of different mirrors, but standard and day/nite, some supplied by Guide and others supplied by outside independents (Donnelly, Ajax, Etc.). The key to differentiating is the PN of the mirror.
In a number of cases, the AIM will call out 1-3 different PN's with one as the primary source and the others as OPT sources. That means the final assy plant had a choice of which mirrors they bought/used...
As far as the day/nite mirror for Corvette goes, it WAS listed as a dealer option for 1964, and MF Dobbins documents it in his Fact Book of the 1963-67 Sting Ray. The dealer option is listed as PN 985657.
Note, the day/nite mirror called out in the 1965 Z01 option is cited as PN 910597. What's the difference? We'd need to see the respective drawings, but it might be a matter of packaging for service vs. factory inventory convenience. Joe Lucia might have more information here...- Top
