    58 Corvette intake manifold gasket

Who sells the correct manifold gaskets for a 58 290 HP? What do you look for?

I believe the intake manifold gasket set sold by Dr. Rebuild and Paragon is the most correct gasket set available. It's also the original style, embossed type gasket. I don't think that gasket sets currently available from any of the major gasket sources (i.e. Fel-Pro, Victor, Cometic, etc.) are the embossed style, let alone having other features of original configuration.

By the way, NO reproduction gasket set has the tiny "GM" embossed on the end seal tab if that nuance is important to you.

      John,
There are two types or cuts of repro gaskets now. Typically Paragon, etc had one that fit all. 57 to 65 FI. It fit other years also.
Now there is a 2nd gasket set for the earlier cars like yours. Instead of the typical camel hump the top of the hump is sheared off so it's flat.
Supposed to be correct for at least 57 to 60 but I need clarification on the years. The catalogs aren't selling the 2nd style yet as far as I know.

As Joe said though NONE of the repros are correct for judging. Only NOS GM is correct. Judges definitely look for the GM logo.
You can get away with using the long repro gaskets which are in fact not repro at all but recut Fel Pros. But you must have the real deal rubber seals with the logo. JD

I thought Paul Mazut either has or can obtain repro gaskets with the GM on the end gaskets and the tab. Look him up in the Members List and drop him a line.

Re: 58 Corvette intake manifold gasket

I bought a NOS set of the end (manifold to block) gasket for my 1960 2 X 4 manifold from Jimmy Gregg. These have "GM" on the tabs. He may still have some sets. For the manifold to head gaskets I plan to use the Paragon set and square off the tabs a little bit.

Ted, Mark, Gary, Thanks for the additional information. Pronesti was in rare form. He even told me how to modify the gaskets he sold to me at Cypress that were on the SR-1 which I had lost points on in Florida in January.

FWIW, There is a picture of this squared off intake gasket in the 63 Corvette shop manual in the engine section. I recall it's in the engine overhaul section and probably a old pic but it clearly shows this flat on top of the hump.
