I have a few pictures that I would like your various opinions on. I am trying to determine if my recent purchase actually represents two ORIGINAL 1967 corvette convertible sun visors.
1. Picture 1 shows the two visors for comparison. The one on the top was on my car at the time of purchase and has been judged once as a reproduction. The visor on the bottom is the "original" 1967 sun visor. As you can see, the "original" appears a bit more crudely made and has much larger brownish (may have faded from black) stitching compared to the one on top. See next picture.
2. Picture 2 shows the stitching for comparison. This time original is on top and repro is on bottom.
3. Picture 3 shows one of the biggest differences between the two visors - the small end on the original (right) appears much smaller in overall size than the repro on the left.
4. Picture 4. The hardware. This stuff is all over the place. CAN SOMEONE POST A PICTURE OF THEIR KNOWN ORIGINAL 1967 HARDWARE?
So, here we go with the hardware. In the picture:
1. The four bars on top are LICS REPRO's (I bought them). They are long.
2. The next bar is an "original" bought from a reputable dealer on ebay. It is also long.
3. The bottom three are the ones I took off the original sun visors (one was missing). All I can say is that they looked like they had never been off the visors and I had to soak the screws in lube to free them up (one still won't budge). They are all short compared to the others.
MY QUESTION - Which bar seems the closest to known originals? Short or long?
The "washers" I am unsure of origins on. MY QUESTION - Were washers used on original sun visors? If so do any of the ones in the picture appear to be the correct size. The original visors I bought had NO washers in place.
Finally, the screws. Starting from the top and moving down, the screws are LICS repro together, original together, LICS repro apart, and original apart. The originals certainly have the patina of age, and are "different" in form than the repros. MY QUESTION - Do they look like your original screws?
That should do it. Looking forward to your help.
