    Different Parts

I am doing a frame off restoration of my 74 coupe. My car was orginally built in November 73. I am finding a lot of 75 parts on my car. I do not have a history on the car but find most of the parts to be numbers matching and to be original. I found the build sheet in the frame when I sand blast it. Is this fairly common or not.
    Thanks for any comments.

    Rob,

What do you mean by "a lot of 75 parts?"

      Re: Different Parts

Things like the struts, larger size requiring larger bushings. Best example. Some of the other things it is hard to tell because some replacement parts cover different years. I think the frame assembly for the head light air tank appears to be 75 as well but front nose piece is definitely 74.

Are the rear bearing supports the 75+ style? These have casting number 348103 with the larger radius "ears" at the bottom. The diameter of the "ears" is close to being the same as the OD of the 75+ strut rod ends.

You conclude with the question "Is this fairly common or not?" But you list several statements that could be answered by the question "Is this fairly common or not?"

          You responded to this above

It's unusual but similar finds have been reported. what part of the frame did you find the build sheet? What shape is it in?

            Re: Different Parts

I found the build sheet in the frame rail just under the drivers door. It is yellowed and ripped on the corners but legiable. I should not be so general in making comments like lots of. I am doing this for the first time and have never taken on an undertaking to this extent. So if I have mislead but it did seem strange. I will check the numbers to see if the other parts are different by the codes.
            Thanks Rob

Joe, I checked the codes on the rear spindle supports and they are the Number provided 348103.

I have found build sheets in the frame near the power steering ram mounting bracket.

There's also a date code cast on the spindle supports, usually just below the casting number. That would help establish that the supports are original to the car.
