72 Seat belt Buzzer Need help

I just reinstalled both seats which I had new foam and leather done. Before removing both seats, the buzzer sound and red light functions were working correctly , I could pull driver seat belt out a portion of the way OR connect the seat and the buzzer sound and red light goes off. Now that I reinstalled the seats, also the connect under passenger seat. Now when I get in , start the vette up and test the buzzer sound and light. I put car in drive and buzzer sound and red light stays on EVEN though I pull out the driver seat belt a portion of the way OR connect the belt . test #2 (1)Driver seat belt not connect. (2) I pull the passenger seat belt out a portion of way OR connect the belt-then the buzzer sound and light goes off like it should. (3) I then connect the driver belt , now both seat belts are connected, and buzzer sound and light are off like they should be. (4) If I then disconnect the driver seat belt and let it go out a portion of the way, the buzzer sound and light stays off but If I let the driver seat belt out all the way ,the buzzer sound and light comes back and stays on. I would appreciate all help-picture- ph.no.#s - emails thank you from charlie

The problem is the belt is out of time with the switch. Their is an area on the wheel of the retractor where the sound turns off. If the switch is dirty or out of time it will not work correct. The retractor needs repaired. A test would be to install the passenger belt on the drivers side and see if it works correct. If it does you have one retractor that needs repaired.

Lyle Thank you for reply. I did the test you mentioned , take the passenger seat belt and connect it to the driver side. The buzzer sound and light stayed on. I have to go back to that 8hr day/5day job this Monday. I will pull out driver seat and check retractor for dirt , etc...sometime in the next day or two. I would like to talk with you if possible . please email when possible , my email is cpstingray@hughes.net and my cell is 480-720-0684 if possible recieve your ph.no., would be greatly appreciated. thank you again
