    C2 Horn Button Question

Good evening! My '65 convertible has a very nice simulated wood steering wheel, but the horn button is from a '63-'64. I can only assume that one of the previous owner purchased a replacement steering wheel at one point, but didn't realize (or care) that the horn buttons vary from year to year. I want to purchase a reproduction '65 horn button, but I want to make sure that it will snap back onto the wheel without any problems. Are the '63-'64 buttons the same diameter as the '65-'66 buttons, and do they snap on & off the same? The horn works fine, so I am doing this simply for cosmetic reasons. Assuming they are the same, is there a "trick" to removing the old button and installing the new one?

    Thank you,
    Roger (50141)

If it has the original horn activation switch, it's as simple as "pop it off-push it on".

      C2 Horn Button Question

      Bill:
Thanks for getting back to me. I realize that there is a very minor difference between the '65-'66 horn button and the '67 horn button. The '67 has a slightly more rounded edge to it. Someone has offered me a '67 at a reasonable price and I am considering it since the difference is so minimal. However, will the '67 button still "snap on" or is there a difference in the attachment ring between years?

      Thanks for your help,
      Roger (50141)

Still a "snap on" the rounded edge was a response to the new federal safety standards that the Automakers were just coming to grips with at the time...
