    60 wiper wiring

What is the brown wire coming out of the armature end of the motor for and where does it attach? I assume it's power but want to make sure.

Assuming this brown wire is power, where should the ground be?

If anyone could post some good pics of what this area of the wire harness should look like and it's routing I'd appreciate it. Heck I wouldn't mind even seeing any other pics of what the entire engine compartment wiring harness should look like!

Just trying to tidy things up here and figure that if I'm doing that I might as well do it right the first time.

    Thanks

    Re: 60 wiper wiring

Does anyone have an idea how to properly wire in this wiper motor? Again, pics would be nice.

I'm trying to get it ready for it's "safety" so that I can get plates on it and drive it so any help is appreciated.

      Greg -

The brown wire is 12V power to the motor, and it connects to the ignition switch side of the ballast resistor. There should be a separate black ground wire with an eyelet on each end that attaches with a screw to the wiper motor mounting plate, and the other end goes under the inboard rear passenger side valve cover screw head.

        Re: 60 wiper wiring

Thanks John that helps. The ground wire is missing so I jumpered the brown wire and then made a quickie ground for the motor to see if it works and it does so at least I know the motor works on both speeds and also parks.

The ballast resistor doesn't look right to me so I assume that it's not original. It is also mounted on the passenger side of the wiper motor and the brown wire won't reach it so I'm also assuming it's in the wrong place.

Would you happen to have a good pic of what this area of the wiring harness and firewall should look like?

On my 1960, the ballast resistor is near the center of the fire wall and the brown wire reaches it with ease.
