What should someone pay for a 67 HE engine?

Ran across a 327/300hp engine dated in March/April 67, overhauled by an experience mechanic. The VIN is rubbed out but date code and HE is apparent. The cam and intake has been changed, and he was going to put it in a old Chevelle.

Thinking about putting it in my 82 El Camino.

i would not pay any more than a new 300 HP crate engine from GM would cost where you get 3 year 36,000 mile warranty

....which is probably more than an '82 El Camino is worth!!!!!

Mike,

I think you are probably right. But it's a classic on road construction jobs, fits right in there with the Cats.

Think I might go the TBI route to get a few more years out of it.
