All of a sudden, my clutch pedal is harder to push in, and is especially hard near the bottom. I do not detect any other issue other than this. This car has always shifted smoothly (has a Hurst shifter). Any thoughts on what might be causing this? Thanks.

Re: 64 Clutch pedal - hard to push in
Hi Curt,
Unless you can confirm bent or bound up external components such as the clutch pedal assembly, clutch rod, Z bar, or throw out bearing arm then I'm afraid it's going to be either with the throw out bearing or pressure plate.
If I was a gambling man, I'd take a hard look at the Z bar assembly first.

Re: 64 Clutch pedal - hard to push in
Curt,
Assuming (and you know what that means!) you haven't worked on the clutch lately, the only thing I can think of is the throwout bearing is galded on the bearing retainer. If this is the problem it will only get worse and add stress to the linkage to the point you may break something. Time to pull things apart and inspect. Whatever the problem is, it should be evident when you get into it. Good luck. Bill- Top
