    71 Coil spring lable

As I continue the disassembly of my 71 coupe I have conflict that I would like opinions on. This car is a base SB, auto, no air. The tag on the spring is green (orig) and broadcast code is a HT. The judging guide shows the HT code is for a higher load spring. FYIW the Paragon book shows that a HT would be for an SB air car.
My question is could the wrong spring have been put in? (I know that answer) My real question is this: Should I put in a lower rated spring so the ride hight is appropriate? I can't do measurements as the drive train is out and the car is high all around. It did look higher than normal before I started disassembly.

    TIA

    Pete,

I would think your car would ride and handle better with the slightly stiffer spring.

I personally would not change the spring, just use the correct label on the springs for judging.

I used the stiffer F41 front springs on my 454 AC car. It made the car sit a bit more level and REALLY helped with the handling.

    My 2 cents ---
