Back in the mid 80's Joseph Trybulec and I did an interview with a couple of guys that worked in the plant. If I remember right, they seemed to remember a white ZL1 but not so much the yellow one and thought there were more that just 2. They both admitted that back then, that working in the Corvette Plant was just a job and the Corvette was just a car.
Joe has a much better memory than I. Maybe he can put light on it?

As I recall we drove out to Washington, Missouri where one guy lived who had started at the St.Louis palnt in 1963 on the chassis line. He was responsible for making the trim tags on the first shift. He said the VIN tags were carefully counted and accounted for..the trim tags with mistakes that he noticed while punching them just when into the trash.

Then the painter arrived after we started the interview and he did state he remembered the white ZL1 and he painted the stripe on it.

That video tape is around somewhere and I have their names in the files.

    Let the saga continue..

Remember our conversation about the white car in the Walgreen parking lot about 20 years ago.

PS..remember what he gave you out of his tool box?

    I do!

If I recall there was a magazine article a while back about this car. The owner (at the time) had zero documentation. So, without that the car just has a nice lightweight big block installed.

      Patrick

Right, the owner does not claim this car is an assembly line example. Just wanted to hear more about it.

As I remember he gave us some old TRIM TAGS with his name on them.
He said that he use to put them on his "Trout Line"!
I have one of them around here someplace.

Clem, I'm going to start a new thread about these '66 models.

I don't think that car rolled off the St Louis assy line as an L88.

That's what Dick Guldstrand told me, and that's what he's been telling everyone since 1966.
