    Removing Western Knock-off Wheels

I am having trouble removing the safety pins from the 1966 style Western Wheels on my '65 Coupe. They are true "knock-offs" and the pins are all in deeper than the outside edge of the rim. Two of the wheels have been tightened past the point where they easily line up with one of the five "indented" cuts.

The pins were inserted by the tire service that installed my tires back in 2006 and this is the first time I have tried to take the wheels off to service the car. I can't take the car back to the tire service as I now live in a different state. I know from reading other posts here on the forum not to replace the pins, but just keep a careful eye on the marks and check again after driving 100 miles.

Thanks in advance for your help.

The pins on my Western Wheels appear to be made of aluminum, or at least they are a soft metal. I would to drill them out if you can not pull them out.

Have you tried to "back off" (loosen) or tighten the spinner just enough to take pressure off the pins?

Please do not call these aluminum pins "safety pins". They are correctly called "anti-theft pins". -Clark
