    C2 brake light problem

Passenger side brake lights don't work after I rebuilt the head lamp motors and installed my refurbished instrument cluster (full disclosure). I've checked the switch at the pedal and the swapped the bulbs with the driver side lights that still work but still no brake lights on the passenger side. What did I miss?

    Year?

Look at the wiring diagram for the brake lights circuit. What does it tell you?

      Hi Dale,

It might help if we know more info. Do the parking lights and turn signal lights (and dash turn signal indicator lights) work OK? Did your restoration work also include the repair or disassembly of the steering column and/or related harness?

      Good luck!

Vehicle year is 1964 327/300 convertible. All turn signals work as do the tail lights. I'll dive into the wiring diagram but the hope was that there may have been someone on the forum that had a similar problem and could help pinpoint the fix before I went to the wiring diagram (note, I'm not an electrical engineer)

        Thanks for the tip Louis!

Don't worry...the wiring diagram is pretty USELESS to a bona fide electrical engineer! It's NOT a schematic diagram. It's simply a statement of how the various 'black box' components are inter-connected. There's no way you can do engineering tasks with it (e.g. design this/that)...

You're right about the "useless" comment Jack. I'm now wondering if someone knows of a diganostic routine that can tell me if the problem is above or below the body connector. I get a constant 12v at the top # 3 lead (reading left to right) and a switched 12v on the bottom #2 lead when I step on the break pedal. Again, all tail lights work and both sides of the turn signals work so I don't think I have a ground problem at the tail light housing.

Could the problem be in the steering column... which I pulled to remove the instrument cluster?

OK, if the turn signals work (and you have physically verified that they work) the switching between the turn signal function and the brake function is done in the turn sugnal switch, so if you had the column out, the most likely place to start looking is at the connection from the column to the IP wiring harness. if that is good, then likley the issue is in the t/s switch.
