    Battery Shutoff

The fire code at the 2009 national convention makes you remove a battery cable. What will happen to the C-6-2009? What all will I loose when I hook it back up. They talk about a bypass could this just be a wire with two alligator clips for a one time deal? I could hook it up before I take the terminal off.

I do not have a car this new, but on my 85 and 3- 96 cars have no problems when disconnecting the battery. Might have to reset some radio stations, cars relearn what they need and do great.

The 2009 Road Tour covered this:

On C6s if disconnecting the battery you will only lose window indexing. It is no big deal to reset (see Owner's Manual) once the battery is reconnected. All the other presets and memory functions will be retained.

All that said, the battery terminals on the C6 are NOT your father's top terminal connections. Be very careful when reattaching the battery cable to the battery that you do not over tighten the nut/terminal. There is a torque spec on the inside of the positive cable red cover, which reads 9 Nm or 7 Lbs-Ft. The 2008 Factory Service Manual calls for 8 Nm or 71 pounds inch, which converts to 5.9 Lbs-Ft. The on-line SI (Service Information) Manual calls for 10 Nm or 89 pounds inch
