After much discussion on this board about Rally vs Finned hubcaps a few months ago, called PO-1 or PO-2 depending on the year of your C-3, I decided I would try to purchase some and see which I liked best on my '68 with Kelsey Redline bias ply tires. It was certainly more difficult to find suitable finned hubcaps than I thought it would be. I purchased 12 off ebay and had to take them apart to get 4 that I was reasonably satisfied with to put on the car. I purchased 4 new centers for the ones I would put on the car. Below are the pictures of before - Rallys and the after- Finned. I think it gives the car a new look.

Re: Finned vs Rally Hubcaps
Love the PO1's & 2's. I felt the same way. I bought the car 6 years go with the original PO1's. I took them off immediately and put the trim rings and center hubs on. Last year I was getting ready for Flight judging and put the PO1's back on and now I'll never go back to the others, I actually sold them.Jack Corso

Re: Finned vs Rally Hubcaps
The flashing of sunlight on the fins of the full wheel covers is quite attractive while the car is in motion. Keeping them clean enough to achieve that level of bling is a whole other matter.
Be sure they are well balanced. There are balance weights in the OEM full wheel covers for good reason. Those things weigh a bunch, and if unsprung weight matters to your driving style you ought to remove them before you lose them.
Edit add:
And no, I have no clue how one would balance them. All the wheel balancing machines I am familiar with require a hole through the center of the wheel being balanced. I suppose a shop that balances engines might have something that could work, but I am not very familiar with that equipment.Terry- Top

Re: Finned vs Rally Hubcaps
I love the original and unrestored PO2s on my 72 but boy are those things heavy. It is amazing that any engineer ever signed off on those. The Rallys look neat and clean but I still prefer the PO2 setup- Top

Re: Finned vs Rally Hubcaps
I have both po-2 and rally wheel and prefer po-2 . I purchased the po-2 at kissimee winter meet for 250 bucks an d they are i n good condition . However, I am not sure they are for vette or passen ger. Because thne inden tation from thne outer ring to the center emblem is about 3/8 of an inch while judging says indentation should be 1/4 in ch. Did I get ripped off? tom- Top

Re: Finned vs Rally Hubcaps
Sorry I think one of the highlight areas of a C3's is the Rallies. I't's one wheel that you cannot mistake for any other car and that's the rallies, they are just so nice to look at. Anyway I hope you enjoy your new caps. Stewy- Top

Re: Finned vs Rally Hubcaps
Terry....
I went through the same situation as you on my '73 LS4. I thought too that 1973 being the LAST year as an option on Corvette that it would be pretty neat to have the P02s.
I wanted the caps for my driver tires and wheels and use the rallys and original Firestone 500s for NCRS judging.
It took me six hubcaps to purchase off eBAY and using the best parts to put on the car. I think the P02 are unique for the "early" C3s.
I even did a poll on this forum to help me decide and of course all the members were fantastic with responses.
I have both, but the P02 are on the car the most as the driver.Last edited by Peter G.; June 23, 2009, 07:48 PM.Peter Gregory # 4157
