GM #3151116 is applicable to 1960 and early 1961 Corvettes. It is a top tank style radiator.

joe, i have been researching this radiator and according to nolan this radiator was suppose to replace the 1960 type aluminum radiator #3147516. the date code of 61j would certainly suggest this and i think this would have been used on a early to mid 62, code 582 car.

              John--
That would NOT have been used on a mid-62 car. The radiator support was different for the top tanks vs. the aluminum rads with separate expansion tanks.
The 61J radiator that is reference would be an over the counter GM replacement radiator made September 1961 as a replacement for 60-61 top tank that had failed.

thanks mike. that explains the late date code. would all radiators after 1700 in 1961 then be part #3150916?

Please note in my original response that I said the GM #3151116 radiator is applicable to 1960-E61 Corvettes. That does not mean it was the radiator originally used on all of these. The GM #3147516 was a predecessor radiator to the 3151116. The latter radiator replaced the former for SERVICE in December, 1960. However, even as early as April, 1960 GM was cataloging the 3151116 for 1960 Corvettes with mechanical lifters.

I agree with Mike and do not think that the 3151116 was ever used on a 1962 Corvette. As Mike also mentions, the 61J dated 3151116 which was mentioned in the original post in this thread is a SERVICE piece. In fact, we know that it has to be a SERVICE piece since it is described as "new". No PRODUCTION-utilized piece could be described as "new" at this point.

As a matter of fact, the GM #3151116 was available in SERVICE until July, 1972, so I would expect that its manufacture continued at least until the late 60's, if not later.
