A few weeks ago a few of us Corvette guys got together to go to a cruise-in.
Half way there my buddys 58 popped and cracked and stopped running.
When he stopped my other friend driving a blown 61 Corvette who was behind the 58 said it sounded like a broken rotor.
Thats what the problem was. A tie wrap and some electrical tape got him back on the road. He got a few spare rotors and installed one of them. Car ran great, until the next week when we were on the road again.
Same problem, broken rotor.
As it turned out the top ignition shield was pushing on the cap which moved and that is what broke the rotor.
Live and learn.
