67 Trans mouting bracket to frame hardware

I cannot find two sources that agree on the arrangement of bolts, nuts, and washers that hold the transmisison mount bracket to the frame.

The AIM is unclear (to me) on this. It shows bolt 3416253 with washer 6255640 and nut 9422291 securing the drivers side of the the bracket and the shifter bracket to the frame. For the pass side there si only bolt 454905. No washer and no nut, which is clearly incomplete.

The horizontal bolt that is in shear should be a double-circle headmarked black bolt with washer and nut on the other end. This part I am OK on.

Both LIC and Paragon call out same length bolts for both sides of the bracket. The Paragon kit comes with two 3/8"-16 X 3/4" WB bolts and crimp nuts. No washers. The LIC kit comes with two flat washer, not sure on the headmark of their bolts.

This little stuff is driving me nuts!

    Nick,

The 67 used different length bolts because the one side also included the new shifter mount bracket. Most original bolts for these 2 applications are grade 8 (designated by 6 radial lines). Some headmarkings I have seen are WB, M, RSC and others. The mount without the shifter bracket uses a 3/4" bolt and the side with the shifter mount uses a 7/8" bolt. These should have locking nuts (no lock washers) and occasionally they have flat washers under the head of the bolt but thats certanly not the norm.

      Rich,

Thank you very much for your expertise and guidance on this.

This car is one of those that really doesn't have anything MAJOR wrong with it, but is full of common garden-variety of hardware store bolts and nuts that is driving me up the wall. Every project I do involves replacing at least some portion of the related hardware.

I just measured the WB bolts supplied by Paragon, and though the kit says 3/4", they are actaully both 7/8". In my experience, Paragon kits are usually the most complete and accurate. If I cannot find a 3/4" WB in my cache of spares today, i will use the 7/8" on both sides.

      Kind regards,

      Nick
