I haven't done the math but I'm guessing it's a % of a % calc. If 10 cars are built and 50% have option A and 50% have option B and your car has options A and B then 50% of 50% or 2.5 cars out of 10 cars had the options your car has. I know my car shows to be the only car built in '58 with it's options by their calcs.

If the question is the % they show for a single option, I believe that comes from GM published data. I know various reference materials have the same percentages for a given option.

    Rob could validate this.

I think John Hinckley just commented on that within the last few days... Basically, compound production statistical data doesn't exist (this car with that option, this here other option, Etc.).

So, people extrapolate and that's what you get, a basic guesstimate that makes some presumptious assumptions!

I think you ar eright about the guesstimate looks like more art than mathmatics.
        Thanks

I can confirm what Jack says.....

The production datas and numbers we took fram various sources within the NCRS and some books and we update them when some proven data changes are addressed.

Just to clairify my comments I am sure that the production numbers are correct (or extremely close) on an option by option bases. I was wondering about the calculation that goes into the total number produced with a given set of options
            Thanks

Mark, the total numbers of "X" cars with "N" combinations is not available from records. Some sources extrapolated based on sometimes limited surveys which results in non real world numbers.
