    65 Power Brake Booster

Did the 65 power brake booster have any identifing markings that differentiated it from other years? I was told it had a Julian Date marked on one of the tabs and later told that 65s did not (true or not?). Anything else to look for?

I think this is nicely covered in the descriptive text contained in the 1965 NCRS Judging Guide. Why not crack open your copy and see what's said?

Jack, Unfortunately, I loaned my judging guide out and do not have it to look at. However, I did hear that a Julian Date is correct.

              Re: 65 Power Brake Booster

I got out my '65 JG. It states: "The booster part number is 5467011. the last four digits, "7011" are stamped into the tabs at the perimeter (10:00 o'clock & 4:00 o'clock) where both halves joint together." The '65 JG mentions no other numbers, Julian, or otherwise.

If, perhaps, you meant the master cylinder, here is what numbers are addressed for this part: "The casting number 5467084, "DELCO MORAINE" with logo, and "1" DIA" are visible on the inboard side."

The '65 JG also addresses non-power brake cars and the differences for the fuelie with power brakes, all on pages 131-132 under the chassis section.

Clark, Thanks for the information on the booster (I was not looking for info on the cylinder). Would it be possible the judging manual left this information out for any reason?

                  Re: 65 Power Brake Booster

I can only speculate about why the '65 JG does not go into more detail about the power brake booster.

I do know that knowledge of these fine cars is evolving with new information coming forward every so often. The JG's are written by one or more knowledgeable enthusiasts. I do believe that the authors make a good faith effort to spell out everything. I also know that when errors are noticed, they are corrected as soon as possible. They do it for the love of the car. -Clark

Hello... So I'm understanding this correctly, My PB 65 coupe has a cylinder with the casting # 5467084... is this an orginal casting or repop?
Also... theres a 'D3' on the cylinder... what exactly is this? a date code?
                            located between the 'F' & 'R'.
                            thank you... jim

7011 is thepart number and 297 is the 297th day of the year. So Saturday, October 24, 1965 is the build date of the booster.

Interesting they were working Saturday, 10-24 when the rest of the St. Louis plant was on strike from 9-30 until 11-3.

My guess Page is your car was built around November 15 with a vin around 2730 ?
