Re: Should Corvette Hall of Famers Attend NCRS Events for Free?
I agree with Terry and I partially agree with Jim. Corvette Museum Hall of Fame members should be treated the same as all NCRS Members. However, senior members of NCRS who have done much for the hobby should be allowed to attend the events in a manner befitting them. It should be up to the event chair to make the decision who is comped and who is not. I realize it is rather arbitrary this way and maybe not just ,but I dont know of another way to do this. The current policy is good and should not be changed ,but as Jim indicated, maybe some consideration can be made in the registration fee for those members who only wish to come for one day and see the cars.- Top

That's an interesting suggestion.
The San Jose Registration forms require members to pay $125. But a member can pay an extra $45 to bring a non-member guest.
Maybe we need a new guest category - "Senior Honored Member" - where a paying member "sponsored" a retired senior member who was not displaying a car. Would I pay an extra $90 to attend the National Convention with Jim Gessner and Noland Adams as my guest??? In a heartbeat. I suspect I am not the only younger member to feel this way. And I would buy them lunch too if it gave me an extra chance to gain some quality time to hear war stories and learn more about these cars.

Re: Should Corvette Hall of Famers Attend NCRS Events for Free?
This is an interesting discussion with varied opinions and there will always be two points of view. I look at the costs of attending similar "Conventions" if you will, and from what I have seen, I think NCRS events seem more than reasonable in comparison. Granted some venues are higher than others due to location, timing and other cost factors.
If some don't pay, I think it's fair to assume that costs would have to be absorbed by the rest, ultimately leading to increased prices for everyone?
I think I have to side with Terry McManmon on this one, a Members of The Corvette Hall of Fame who comes to the convention, obviously willing to pay his share and he always pitches in and helps out.- Top

Re: Should Corvette Hall of Famers Attend NCRS Events for Free?
When the first generation of this society is gone..ala Mike Hunt, Dan Gale, Dale Pearman and others..no amount of money or remorse for having been too budget minded will bring them back or their knowledge.
I recommend the board review the spirit of and the value of high value guest speakers and attendees and how to finance their participation and continued contribution.
