    Trailing arm

I changed the rear spring and all bushings on my 67 coupe and now my passenger side trailing arm hangs ( when on lift ) 1/2" lower than the drivers side. When i turn the left wheel it rotates 350 degrees and then binds i gat through the next 10 degrees and is fine. Th arm moves up the 1/2" to complete rotation. Anyone have any idea what may be wrong?

    Thanks
    Bill

    Bill,
with the suspension hanging the u-joints are in a bind angle position. You must support the suspension to level position to rotate the wheels freely. It sounds as if you do not have a posi rear end. Or it is "loose".

The limiting factor for rear suspension rebound is the shock absorber, by design. Original units, supposedly, do not allow the susp to travel far enough to cause the problem that you describe.
Replacement units almost always do allow more travel.

The unit is non posi and the shocks were replaced at the same time. I have a 66 that is non posi and the wheels rotate fine. I will try to find a set of shocks that will work.

The only time you'll encounter the "bind" issue (besides when the car is on a lift with the suspension hanging in full rebound) is if you "get air" while driving, which is unlikely. I wouldn't worry about it.

Thanks. If i catch one of my sons getting air there will be more than wheel trouble .
