Hi all i am currently having trouble with the calibration of the speedometer in my 65 .. the car has stock size tires 3.36 gears .. in the tranny i have the proper blue 20 tooth gear ,or what i belive is the proper gear . the problem is @ 55 mph the gauge reads 35 mph . were the speedos calibrated differently for different applications or were they all the same and variations made at the trans output only ?? thanks for all your help Don..

Re: speedo calibration issues ??
No....The speedos were all calibrated the same. It sounds to me that the magnet in the speedcup might need to be calibrated.
I sent all my gauges out (part of it was re-calibrating the speedo) to have done by Bill at http://www.harrisonspeedometer.com/ Look up contact info and give him a call. See if there is anything else he'd recommend.
Good Luck,
David- Top

Re: speedo calibration issues ??
taking out the dash cluster is NOT what i wanted to do ! its a horrible job ,not a good fit for me ... that is kind of what i was thinking though that it would need to be recalibrated .. oh well i will live with it until winter , now is the time to be driving her not taking her appart ... thanks again David..- Top

Re: speedo calibration issues ??
Don -- that`s quite a difference in dial reading. How about the odo or trip meter ? Is the % difference the same ? Could indicate whether the problem is in the spring cup / magnet of the speedo head, or the trans gears.
I have a few lower tooth count plastic gears at home that you could try (but I`m still in Montreal, away from Calgary for another week).- Top
