69 Fiber Optic Headlight "Seal" ???

In the 69 AIM it show a small "Seal" numbered #4, that is placed between the Fiber Optic lead on the headlight plug and the Headlight bulb.
I've checked around and none of the parts suppliers seems to list these seals.
Could anyone clarrify what these are and were to get them. I'm sure my headlight indicators on the console would be brighter with them.
My car still has it's original headlight bulbs and I just replaced the harness, but there was no sign of these "seals."
    Thanks!

They're round, cylindrical shaped rubber or maybe foam gizmos. They slip over the "tit" on the back of the headlight, supposedly to focus the beam to the fiberoptic.

Chuck, That's kind of what I figured. Do you know anyone that has them?

First place I'd try is Dr. Rebuild. He has an online catalog too.

I have some originals and you're RIGHT, you WILL lose FO display intensity without them. BUT, before you run off and pay through the nose for NOS originals, understand dealership parts counters rarely stocked them and mechanics almost never replaced worn, missing, damaged originals. They MADE them!

Just find some misc rubber tubing hose that fit over the center tit on the headlight and will slip into FO pickup hole on the HL connector. Cut it to fit lengthwise to close the air gap and you're good to go! All it did was act as a 'pipe' to keep source light scattering/reflecting across the air gap between the HL connector and the lamp...

            Jack,
I was hoping someone would say something like this! I was tempted to do just what you explained, but I thought maybe they had some type of light conductive material inside of them. But if they are just hollow tubes, I will do as you instruct!
            Thanks!

There is a neat story about them (if I do say so myself) in The Restorer "back in the day" -- I'm guessing some time between 1985 and 1995 probably toward the earlier end of that range. I hope that story made the CD, but who knows?

Oh, BTW: Jack is right -- they are just a foam tube. I would guess a rubber hose might be too stiff and push the connector off the lamp; but if the wall was thin enough, maybe not.

                Jamie,

I used the outside casing stipped from a piece of coaxial TV cable I had laying around. Works like a charm!
