    1963 Washer pump

When I push the button for the washer, I hear nothing. The wipers go on but nother else happens.

    Any thoughts???

    Thanks,

    Jerry

    Re: 1963 Washer pump

If you don't hear a gentle (thump, thump, thump) when the wiper arms are in motion and you've activated the washer, it's probably from one of several causes:

    (1) The solenoid in the washer module isn't engaging.

    (2) The washer has been worked on and was re-assembled incorrectly such that the solenoid's latching components aren't properly engaging with the plastic drive carousel.

    (3) The drive carousel has fatigue fractured and its follower arm isn't engaging properly.

    (4) The washer was installed onto the wiper motor incorrectly such that the drive pin isn't engaging in the motor's drive gear.

Troubleshoot the first three issues by cracking open your copy of the 1963 Corvette Shop Manual, studying the section on WS wiper motor + washer module. Then, remove the plastic cover from the washer, have an assistant actuate the wiper + washer function and observe what's going on with respect to the washer solenoid & drive carousel...
