Re: Possible purchase off of ebay advise
I purchased a 65 coupe that I saw on ebay a few years ago. I called the seller to tell him that I wanted to inspect the car before bidding. He offered me a cash deal, and meant cash and would not accept a certified check, since he felt it could be counterfit. The car was several states away in a small town, so I was concerned in taking the full cash amount. I found out where he banked and called them to ask about a way to give them a certified check for cash once I saw the car. They just wanted to verify things with my bank. It worked out smoothly. This all happened within a 24 hour timetable. After the purchase, I ended up driving the car 3 hours to a city where I could rent a car trailer and then hauled it back the remaining 5 hours to home. I couldn't blame the seller for wanting cash, but I would not have carried that amount of cash on an overnight trip.
