    Le Mans - Tomorrow

    Tomorrow starts the 24 Hours of Le Mans. Corvettes are 1 and 2 in class--- and last time for Corvette in GT1. My best buddy Morgan (Old English Sheep Dog) and I have stocked up on snacks (Dr. Pepper, chips, braunsweiger, Milk Bones) and are ready to watch it straight through as we do each year.

    From www;
    With the Aston Martin factory team absent from LMGT1 this year, the Corvette Racing Team easily secured first and second positions in this unusually small class. Jan Magnussen leads the category behind the wheel of the #63 Corvette with a time of 3.54.230 - over two-seconds ahead of the lone #66 Jet Alliance Aston Martin DB9R.

    Sad that the DBR9s aren't there. They are tough competition.

      Chris, the one private entry Aston just went in the gravel. Corvettes are now 1-4 in class with the Aston dropping from 4th to 5th and the Lambo out in 6th. The factory Astons were great in GT1. Next year the GT(2) class will reallly be crowded with Corvette, Aston, Ferrari, Porsche and ???

      'Gotta watch it at Speed site until it comes back to Speed TV in a few hours.

        Neat stuff. Yeah, I'd love to see Petit LeMans and LeMans next year with Porsche, Vette, Aston, Ferrari, BMW, and Panoz.....what a group that would be....

          We lived north of Atlanta for a few years and went to Road Atlanta a bunch. I liked Elkhart Lake a little better (Thunder Valley) but RA is great. If you get a chance, go. You will never regret it. I used to help wrench for a guy from there who ran an SVRA IMSA BMW. Mid Ohio is close and a great course, also.

            A few minutes ago in the 22nd hour ago the #64 factory Corvette (the black one) lost drive at the entrance to pit lane. Uncertain if the cause is gear box or half shafts. The team is trying to convince the officials to push the car a little farther completely past the pit entrance line so the team can then push it to the pit box/garage and work on it. So far no luck. The #63 and #64 were fighting for first in class.

                  Re: Le Mans - Tomorrow

                  What BS to pull the leading car off the track for a lap or to so as to clean it up for its appearance in victory lane. A car that has raced for 24 hours should look like it and not appear showroom new. Perhaps NCRS had a hand in making that decision.
