Re: Found original title to my 58, found owner, don't give his phone # any help?
Write him a letter, send him some photos and try to perk his curiosity/interest.
Worked for me. I contacted the original selling dealer representative that put my 67 in service 01 April 1967 and sent him a nice letter and some photos. He sent me a shirt pocket screwdriver, bottle caper, snow scraper, beer opener, key fob, and a nice certificate made out to him signed by 4 different GM zone managers for a achievement in parts sales also dated 1967. Pice "0", he said "I made his day when that letter and those pictures arrived". Only job he ever had until he retired in the mid 80's was at the Chevrolet dealership / gas station. he pumped gas, drove the wrecker, ordered parts, worked on cars, and also was the Service Manager. Dealership is long gone now. Then 1 day here came another surprise, a pictue of the service station mom/pop dealership with the CHEVROLET sign above the door.
You can't lose by trying.

Re: Found original title to my 58, found owner, don't give his phone # any help?
Brandon,
Definitely send him a letter first. A nice one page, or less, letter was the first step I took in contacting several prior owners of my 1966 Corvette. I had a lot of luck doing that. In several cases, I even had their telephone numbers, but still sent a letter first. In the letter, I explained my purpose for writing and provided all my contact information. Most former owners responded pretty quickly. Those who did not eventually received a telephone call from me. At least they were not totally caught off guard when I called, and all said they were meaning to call me but just hadn't gotten to it. A letter is a good "ice breaker."
You are very lucky to have a point of contact. I received SEVERAL nice items, photos, documents and stories from prior owners, to include my car's original owner's manual, which one former owner kept as a memento back in 1981. Everything I received was free.
Good luck.- Top

Re: Found original title to my 58, found owner, don't give his phone # any help?
Good advice, I just know I had the name of the original owner of my 68 and I gave the name on here and someone had the means to and was nice enough to look up her phone number for me and I got in contact with her.
She didn't really give me much info but atleast I know it's a no hit car, which I saw it stripped down and didn't see any damage but now I know all panels are original
thought maybe whoever helped me contact her for that 68 might see this post and get his number for me, would be nice if he had some of the original parts huh!- Top

Re: Found original title to my 58, found owner, don't give his phone # any help?
Send a letter with picture. I did a search of Texas DMV for my 67 back in 88 . Texas sent me a pile of information all the way back to the original owner. When i sent a picture of the 67 to Bobby (original owner) with my 1 year old son James, Bobby called me and told me that he was the second owner and gave me the name of the real original owner and then sent me a pile of pictures from 68 to 80 of him and the 67. I sent a letter with the picture of my son to Jim ( the real original owner). Over a year later Jim wrote to me and apologized for taking so long. he told me that his son was also called James and that he would send me a baby picture of his son and the car. The picture never came but the letter is invaluable.- Top

Brandon - use this search.
There are 3 listings and 3 different addresses for a guy that could be him. One has a phone number.
