    C2 Weather Stripping

Anyone have pics that they could send me? I will be grateful for any help.

Ron, I have no experience doing this. I just looked at mine and I see very, very little if any sign of glue. Suggest you use the brush on the narrow side. Sure others will offer more insight. Bill

Glue.... nothing fancy... slop a little here and there to get the UAW quality of workmanship.......

      Original examples below.

1-1/2 brush is too wide.... even the UAW wasn't that bad.

Clean the new weatherstripping or it will not stick. you need to get the grease or whatever is used to release it from the mold off the rubber.

Thanks to all for the replies and information. The pics helped greatly.

I put the new weather stripping on this morning. It went well. I'll check it later to insure it adhered and do some clean up. The next step is judging at The Lone Star Regional. Hoping for no deductions on the WS.

          Thanks again.

          Ron

You might consider something closer to the factory original glue than the yellow form of 3M Weatherstrip Adhesive. Fire up your Google search engine and check out 'Pliobond'.

This adhesive is still used in small aircraft applications. It's thinner than the 3M adhesive making it easy to apply with a brush. The THICK 3M adhesive doesn't really lend itself to being brushed on...

Also, Pliobond is less yellow in color when freshly applied (turns darker with time/age), so the 'slop' factor associated with the factory original brush application isn't quite so 'hideous' as what you get with the 3M adhesive.

Is this the type you're referring to Jack, or is there a specific mix of Pliobond for weatherstripping?

"Pliobond is a viscous, tan-colored, quicksetting, thermoplastic adhesive composed of synthetic materials. Highly versatile; bonds metal, wood, plastics, fabric, ceramics, glass, vulcanized rubber, paper, leather, concrete. Use methyl-ethyl-ketone as solvent when thinning needed. 1/2 pint."

I just finished mine up today. It was not nearly as bad as I thought. Actually it was a breeze. Tom
