C1 Wiper cable

I have one wiper transmission cable is badly frayed and needs replacing... what type of wire ie mild steel/stainless/galavnized etc should I use? what guage or diameter is it, and does anyone have any handy tips to offer on the reapair method(s).

Dave , I would send the set of parts to Tom Maxwell at Capital Restoration. He restores all wiper related items. Defineately do the set , not just one. Thanks, Steven J. ............

Take Steven's reply to heart. the cables are different lenghts and require swaging. You will have enough on your plate just reinstalling them. If I can help, E-mail me and I will forward you some instructions that may help.
p.s. Mary Jo (VetteGal) husband does them also and make sure the transmissions work smooth.

Thanks Guys. I have been in touch with Tom, and sent him some details of the systems' condition, I hope to be able to de install it in a couple of weeks when I get home and send to him for evaluation etc. I have already done some serious studying on the reinstall process, and you are right, it definitely seems like it will be somewhat trying, but with help I am sure I can get it done.
